Contest Winners

Emporia Building Futures announces the winners of its Top 10 Contest. As submitted by the people of the community, Emporia’s Top 10 favorite things are:

•    Emporia’s Accessible Zoo
•    Emporia’s Friendly People
•    Emporia’s Variety of Restaurants
•    Emporia’s High-Quality Public Schools
•    Emporia’s Vibrant Downtown
•    Emporia’s Offering of Movies
•    Emporia’s Engaging Library

People from the Emporia community submitted entry forms to Building Futures describing their Top 10 favorite things about the city. The variety of types of responses demonstrated tremendous appreciation for what is available in Emporia.

“The response we got from this contest was very exciting. People of all ages responded, sharing a wide range of things they love and appreciate about our city. The businesses, services and amenities we have in Emporia are vast, yet we have a community that is comfortable and makes for a great lifestyle. The feedback shows we have a community that cares, and is genuinely proud and positive about our city,” said Jeanine McKenna, president of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce. Other winners included three contest entrants, chosen at random, who each won Emporia-themed gift baskets, with prizes and coupons from area businesses. Melissa Bailey won grand prize, Jessica Headley won second place, and Mary Ann Blaufuss won third place.
